Seal and Heidi Klum Unveil First Photos of Baby Lou!

Introducing...Lou Sulola Samuel!

Picture from seal.com

Nearly a month and a half after her birth date (Oct. 9), Seal and Heidi Klum's second baby daughter is ready for her close-up.

Seal (surname Samuel) shared the first-ever photos of little Lou on his website Saturday. Viewable at Seal.com, the four adorable shots include Lou solo, one with her Mommy, another with her Daddy, and one with her siblings Henry, 4, Johan, 2, and Leni, 5, and a beaming Klum lying in bed.

Lou is the third child for Seal, 46, and Klum, 36, who married in 2005; Leni's father is Klum's ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore. (Klum recently took "Samuel" as her new legal surname; no word yet if she'll change her professional surname as well.)

Shortly after Lou's arrival, Seal wrote in a statement to omg!, "From the moment [Lou] looked into both of our eyes it was endless love at first sight. She is beautiful beyond words and we are happy that she chose us to watch her grow over the coming years."

My Top 5 Nigerian Album of the year 2009

No doubt, this year, 2009, had been a beautiful year with many great songs. From the beginning of the year, when Wande Coal and his Mohits crew held the Nigerian music scene to their control, more great albums had been released. From love songs to inspiration songs, the Nigerian music industry has continue to grow with enormous music, videos and exposures. This is my list of 5 greatest albums of the year 2009
1.Mushin 2 mohits - Wande Coal

Even though Mushin 2 Mohits is Wande Coal’s debut album, he is not a stranger on the Nigerian music scene, having enjoyed ridiculous levels of airplay on the various tracks he has featured on from fellow label mate D’Banj. He also featured on several tracks on the Mohits All Stars album C.V. All this combined to make him a household name before his debut Mushin 2 Mohits was released. You’ve got to give it to his management and Mo Hits Records, if nothing else, they know how to create stars. This was definitely one of the most anticipated debut’s in recent times, with perhaps only MI in the same range.

2. NO TIME - BRACKET

The story of this duo would be that of persistence. After a trial debut with Happy day, these acts went back to their drawing board and the result was the Yori Yori album.A 9 track album with support from P-square, J-martins and production by decumzy. This album turned out to be one of the must-buy albums of 2009.The album did make a good impression with its content and igbo like rhythm.

3 . DANGER - PSQUARE

The new P Square album is out and the superfans are nuts (nobody can boast of having more Superfans than P Square -except D’banj). Even the Okoye twins made a song for them called – Superfans. If there is anything I would commend the twins on, it would be their marketing machine. They have improved progressively on the marketing for each album. Improving their appearance (One of the P is sporting a fresh haircut), the album cover is very nice, distribution of their album (album can be picked up on iTunes, Amazon an local outlets near you) and their wallet size. Sadly there has been a minimal improvement in their sound. On Danger, the sound remains largely the same – hardly dangerous now is it. They have stuck to the safe formula that has led to them being one of the most successful acts out of Africa. You have the love songs like I Love You(I wonder how many weddings are going to use this), I Like Dat etc, to send the female and some males crazy – pretty sure there are some guys out there that would be breaking out the Square chat up lines. You have the party songs like Danger, Trowey and Break It which would make djing for Naija parties that much easier for DJs. I can tell you now, nothing like a P Square jam to eject that electric feel into a party. All in all a standard P Square album as expected.
4. C.E.O DA GRIN

Da Grin already is a sick rapper and has Sossick on the boards majority of the time. I would not sleep on this album as that would be like the way most people slept on Gino’s first offering. This is bound to be a killer album. Some artists featured on his album includes Dark Poet Cartier, Isolate Arafada, T-Frizzle, Omawunmi and his producer, Sossick.

5. GINGAH UR SWAGGAH - TERRY G

My first reaction to the announcement that Nigeria’s very own Mr. Every-Hook-I-Sing-Must-Blow was promoting his first post-‘Free Me’ solo project was - how could he be? True the man had basically lived on Lagos radio for more than a year now but Mr. Bling Bling had been living as a tenant and not as a landlord. Even though a couple of songs in the past 18 months wouldn’t have even smelt the pop charts if Terry hadn’t A.) Produced them and/or B.) Sung the hook, the fact still remains that Terry hadn’t had any reasonable personal radio success over the past few months. His only semblance of a solo radio single was that perfect definition of beautiful anarchy, the raging free style ‘Free Madness (Pt 1)’. And then there was also the thoroughly unoriginal ‘Hallelujah’ but unlike his debut album ‘Free Me’, ‘Ginjah Ur Swaggah (Season 1)’ had no hit single, no glossy video, no promo. It seemed like a rushed project from the start, presumably his record label trying to cash in on his sudden popularity. text from strictly9jamusic blog

Nigeria President Umaru Yar'Adua 'has heart problem'

Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua has a heart condition, his spokesman has said, after he flew to Saudi Arabia on Monday for medical treatment. Mr Yar'Adua has acute pericarditis, or inflammation of the lining around the heart.

The president, 58, was responding well to treatment. Officials earlier denied rumours that the president was seriously ill. Mr Yar'Adua has had a chronic kidney condition for at least 10 years.
He has been unable to perform a number of official duties because of recurring health problems.

Officials had earlier been quoted as saying the president intended to make the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca this week.

Analysts say his continued ill-health poses a problem for Nigeria's constitution.
If he were to step down or die, he would be replaced by Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the country's southern Niger Delta region. But according to the ruling People's Democratic Party's own formula for sharing power among the country's regions, the president must be a northerner.

Yar' Adua Profile
  • Born in 1951 in the northern Muslim state of Katsina
  • Self-confessed Marxist as an undergraduate
  • Became a chemistry teacher after university
  • Married twice, has nine children
  • Governor of Katsina from 1999 to 2007
  • During his governorship Katsina adopted Sharia law
  • Nickname since becoming president in 2007 - "Baba-go-slow"
  • High point of his presidency so far - the amnesty for oil militants
  • Has suffered from a chronic kidney condition for at least 10 years

Sade to Release New Album

Soulful singer Sade has announced that she is to release a brand new album, her first in almost a decade. Our first introduction to Sade was in 1985 with her debut album “Diamond Life” from which the classic hits “Smooth Operator” and “No Ordinary Love” where taken. Sade, a Nigerian singer-songwriter, composer, and record producer became one of the most critically acclaimed and most respected artists of the 80’s, in the process carving out her own place on the scene with her intimate downbeat jazz inspired soul. Sade famously came out of retirement to perform at the MOBO Awards back in 2000! The new album is to be titled “Soldier of Love” and comes 9 years after the release of her last album “Lovers Rock”. A truly unique and vital artist, it’s great to have her back. The new album will be released on February 8, 2010, just in time for Valentines Day!

Lagos Citizens to have State Identity Card

The Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, announced on Tuesday that his administration will introduce a residents' identity card scheme.

Mr. Fashola disclosed this while presenting the 2010 budget to the State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to him, the scheme will increase the state government's capacity to plan the delivery of social amenities to the people.

He said: "We have now reached a stage where it is no longer avoidable to ask: ‘How many people can Lagos State meaningfully employ and sustain?'"**

Is an ID card for Lagos residents necessary?

New Timaya Videos

Mr. Timaya, aka the Egberipapa-1 of Bayelsa, has finally graced us with a set of new videos for the buzz singles on his last album, Gift & Grace. This time last year, he released a mediocre video for Yankuluya which, quite understandably, received scathing criticisms from several quarters. Now, he’s redone the video, and there’s obvious improvement.

For the Timaya haters, there’s even more good news: the distribution rights for the latest Timaya VCD has been sold to Abhu Ventures for a reported fee of 11milion Naira, in addition to the 25million Naira which was paid to him for the distribution rights for his last album, Gift & Grace. Whether you like am, whether you no like am, Timaya Don Blow!

Psquare duo speak on album: Danger!

P-Square has come a long way, music wise. In this encounter with Busola Afolabi, the sensational singers, Peter and Paul Okoye, speak on their new album, Danger, their background, challenges and vision for the music industry.

What makes your new album, Danger, distinct?

For the first time, P-Square did an experiment which is bringing a kind of song that doesn't exist in Africa and we were happy when we heard it was number two in the African top 10 countdown. Also for the first time, we did a 'Collabo' with the necessary people just like the one we did with 2Face. Africans demanded for it, so we decided to give it to them. We are now matured, it is not like the “Do me I do you” song, this is more of facing the real life. We tried to portray the African side of women and their pride. So it is the maturity in it that stands it out.

What are some of the challenges you encounter on the job?
Where I think we face challenges is with elder brother Jude, who is our producer, because he racks his brain everyday especially with this new album because he doesn't want to disappoint. He is trying to take Nigeria somewhere and for us, we had to do better than what we did before. Another one is that we had about 20 songs and at the end we came out with only 10. P-Square is not looking at songs only in Nigeria right now, but we have to do something to satisfy people. We are not looking at Africa only, because we have conquered Africa, but the world. You don't say because you are Nigerians you just have to do songs basically for Nigerians. Thank God for songs like “Do me”, “No one like you”, “Ifunaya”, “Bizzy Body” despite the fact that they are Nigerian inclined, we try to maintain the standard. If you listen to our new music “I love you” it has the limelight of Ifunaya, even the “Possibility” we did with 2Face has the style of “No one like you” in it. 'Do me I do you' is a Nigerian slang but outside the country they still understand what it means. So now we are doing songs for Nigeria and beyond.

What is your feeling about the performance of this new album?
We are 100 per cent satisfied. When we came out with “Do me” then we were performing outside the country, so it took some time before Nigerians got into the song. But this new album is totally different because if you look at the Guinness Show where we performed. It was seven days after the album was released and we performed “Danger” and people were singing it word for word. Even when people said we are putting our career in danger because we call the album Danger, we told them that when we came out with Bizzy Body, it took it three months to sell one million copies. But we were happy when they told us that Danger had sold one million copies in eight days.

We will be having a show in Abuja next week and they tag it “Danger Nite with P-Square.” That means Danger is now everywhere, because when “Do Me” came out, we had a show in Lagos called “Do Me Nite.” Danger can stand out anywhere because it is different from anything you have been hearing. Now we have made Nigerians to fall in love with Highlife beat in hip-hop. So, we are satisfied because we have achieved what we wanted. We wanted to see how the fans would react to the new motive behind the album and we got them caught up.

Are you not satisfied with the money you have made so far from the album?
Like I said, I am satisfied. But the right things must be done. The government must step in and control piracy, so that we can sell our CD's at the normal price. Do you know how much we sell our CD's in Tanzania, Sierra Leone and even Ghana? We sell between N800 and N1,000 when the money is converted to naira. In Senegal and Abidjan, it is sold for N2,000 but in Nigeria even the marketer who is selling our album is selling it for N60, that is an insult.
What has helped you to withstand competition in the market?

To us we don't see it as competition. Which market are we even talking about; is it the Nigerian market or the international market? Because there are artistes that are worthy of being outside but are not. There is only one person I know – TuFace. It is either we are going out of the country and he is coming in or we are coming in and he is going out. He is not a competitor to us, he is our senior colleague. Without TuFace, nothing for all of us. It is his achievements that opened ways for all of us. So we don't see any competition. Just do a good job and live the rest for God. Music is a way of passing message across to the people. So, if you pass the wrong message, then you are corrupting the mind. Today, I don't see parents allowing their children to watch the kind of videos people make these days. It is a problem that needs to be resolved now.
What is the most surprising thing a fan has ever done to you?

There was a day somebody was banging our gate when we came out it was a woman and she was shouting ‘I have to see P-Square because my daughter is in the hospital and she says she will die if she doesn't see P-Square.’ We thought she was joking but she sat on the floor and said she won't go anywhere, so we followed her to the hospital. When the girl saw us, she started smiling. We were there for about an hour then we told them we wanted to leave. The girl started crying so her mother begged us to stay. Later the doctor came and gave her sleeping pills before we left. At the end of the day, she succeeded in making us spend about four hours in the hospital. Another one, there was a girl who is an artist so she drew us and presented it to us at a concert in Benin. Even though she was not very perfect, we were surprised and we appreciated and loved the portrait.
