EFCC confiscates assets belonging to Erastus Akingbola

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has begun the process of seizing properties belonging to ex-Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank and 'Church Elder', Erastus Akingbola.

The agency yesterday sealed up his main house on 12, Ruxton Street Ikoyi, Lagos. (Pic of house below), 15 exotic cars found in the home were also seized.

A Lagos Federal High Court ordered the interim confiscation of Akingbola's properties in Lagos, the United Kingdom, Dubai, and Accra in Ghana.

Among the properties to be seized are Amazing Grace Plaza, Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos; properties, cars, and personal assets on Milverton Road, Ikoyi; at 2 Bedwell Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; 26 Chester Terrace, London; 65 Gove-End Road, London; and 8 Connaught Street, London.

Also confiscated are his shares in Intercontinental and Access Banks, Tropics Securities, Tropics Property, Tropics Holdings, Summit Finance Company, Tropics Finance and Investments Company, Yankuri Nigeria, Regal Investments Nigeria, Bankinson Discount House, and Associated Discount House.

The Courts also restrained the ex-bank chief  from touching the N346 billion in his bank accounts pending his arrest and prosecution for alleged mismanagement of depositors' funds and abuse of office

Why the Buzz? Sade’s first new studio album since 2000’s Lover’s Rock has all the classic, haunting, soul searching hallmarks of her previous releases, as well as a few curve pitches. The title track and first single “Soldier of Love” sounds like a Sade-led Portishead scoring a ‘60s-era Sergio Leone spaghetti western while the groove-heavy “Bring Me Home” is destined to become a freestyle favorite for underground MC’s.

Get us off that list! Nigerians are NOT Terrorists

A Facebook group started to condemn the alleged attempt to blow up a US passenger plane by a 23-year-old Nigerian has attracted more than 69,000 members.

"We Condemn Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's Action: Nigerians are NOT Terrorists," is the tagline for the Facebook group.

The group was created by Henry Omoregie, who described himself in an email exchange with AFP as an oil and gas recruitment consultant and freelance online journalist in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The description of the group says it was formed to "condemn the behaviour of a lone numbskull who has just dragged Nigeria's already sodden image more into the mud.

"Nigerians are good people, we are not terrorists, we love life!" the page says.

Nigeria Makes US Terror-Nation List

The American news agency VOA, reports that the United States has increased security screenings for air travelers from 14 countries, in response to the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. jetliner flying from Amsterdam to Detroit.

The Transportation Security Administration said Sunday that every individual flying into the U.S. “from or through nations that are state sponsors of terrorism or other countries of interest” will be subject to “enhanced screening.”

Nigeria is included in the list of “countries of interest”. Somali, Libya, Algeria, and Sudan are the other African nations on the terror watch list.

As reported by AFP, Nigeria’s Information Minister Dora Akunyili said Nigeria did not have a history of terrorism and such a move could not be justified.

“It is unfair to include Nigeria on the US list for tighter screening because Nigerians do not have terrorist tendencies…

“It is unfair to discriminate against over 150 million people because of the behaviour of one person”

Joseph Yobo weds Adaeze Igwe

Super Eagles Vice Captain and Everton FC defender, Joseph Yobo and former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Adaeze Igwe are married. They got married on New Year's day, January 1, at about 3.30 a.m. at the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI) Prayer City, Jos, Plateau State.

The low-key wedding was attended by only a few close friends and family members of the couple and Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang and top government officials. Here's wishing them the very best.
