P-Square wins $1million as Kora Awards African Artiste of the Year

Identical twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, the talented singing/dancing duo have just been crowned African Artist of the Year at the 8th edition of Kora Awards held in Burkina Faso on Sunday 4th of April 2010. One million dollars was attached to the prize.

They are performing at the Kora Concert tonight at Burkina Faso after playing last night in London.

The ceremonies opened with an awesome ballet in tribute to American pop singer Michael Jackson who died last year. Despite a number of absentees – in the like of Akon previously announced as guest star – the Kora Awards went successful.

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Culture Philippe Sawadogo, who chaired the ceremonies, said he was happy that Kora Awards were back to life. “It’s great that Kora Awards are back, that’s the most important thing. And Burkina Faso, centre of African culture, will always be by Kora to promote excellence in African culture,” Sawadogo said.

The biggest winners of the evening were P-Square – best African artistes of the year. They obtain as prize money of $1 million dollars.
