Former first lady, Maryam Babangida, is alive contrary to online reports that she may have passed on or is in the throes of death. Anxiety had enveloped Minna, the Niger State capital and spread across the country as the rumoured death of Mrs. Babangida in a United States hospital filtered out.
However, sources close to the former first family disclosed that though Maryam was rushed to a hospital in the United States of America for an undisclosed ailment, she is alive and responding to treatment.
“I just spoke with Mohammed (Babangida) not more than 30 minutes ago and he told me his mother was responding to treatment. I can assure you that the former first lady is not dead. It is a wicked rumour,” Alhaji Dattijo Aliyu, cousin to former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida told Daily Sun correspondent in Minna on Monday.
