Nigeria Makes US Terror-Nation List

The American news agency VOA, reports that the United States has increased security screenings for air travelers from 14 countries, in response to the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. jetliner flying from Amsterdam to Detroit.
The Transportation Security Administration said Sunday that every individual flying into the U.S. “from or through nations that are state sponsors of terrorism or other countries of interest” will be subject to “enhanced screening.”
Nigeria is included in the list of “countries of interest”. Somali, Libya, Algeria, and Sudan are the other African nations on the terror watch list.
Below is a short animation inspired by the recent negative publicity that Nigeria has been receiving in the international media.
A statement by ‘EVCL 1′ who uploaded on You Tube, captures the mood following the US government announcement:
Nigeria is now shorthand for anything bad in the international medias eyes. Travelling with a Nigerian passport was bad enough already but now its definitely going to be more interesting….

As reported by AFP, Nigeria’s Information Minister Dora Akunyili said Nigeria did not have a history of terrorism and such a move could not be justified.
“It is unfair to include Nigeria on the US list for tighter screening because Nigerians do not have terrorist tendencies…
“It is unfair to discriminate against over 150 million people because of the behaviour of one person”
